THE FANTASTICKS By Harvey Schmidt with lyrics by Tom Jones, playing from October 12 - October 15 for 5 performances.

No one will want to miss this production of Broadway’s all-time longest running musical!  From the year 1960 comes this timeless allegory about two neighboring fathers who trick their children into falling in love.  The inventive, breezy score of this musical includes such familiar songs as “Try to Remember” and “Soon It’s Gonna Rain” as well as the very memorable Fathers’ duet of “Plant a Radish, Get a Radish.”  Just one “hummable” tune after another in a show suitable for all ages! Nightclub seating & tables can be reserved in advance.

 THE REST OF THE SEASON:

The second Series offering will be a production of the impressive 2014 play, SILENT SKY by Lauren Gunderson from February 22  - February 25.

As the playwright has written for her introduction:  "For those who cannot hear the music, the sky is silent.  For others in tune with the universe’s vast harmony, the sky is far from quiet."  The inspiration for Gunderson's play is the story of Henrietta Leavitt, a brilliant 20th c woman who wangled her way into Harvard's astronomy department at a time when women were basically barred from many fields of study, including astronomy.  This fiercely independent and intellectually dedicated woman developed a way to use the stars' brightness to gauge their distance from one another--which became a standard used by astronomers all over the world.  The very talented Gunderson has transposed this story into a work of pure poetry, examining the life of a remarkable woman with candor, tragedy & humor in a brilliantly crafted piece of theatre.  Great, inspirational, entertainment for all ages.

To round out the Season, PCT will present THE SECOND PIEDMONT ONE-ACT PLAY FESTIVAL

An Evening of Original One-Act Plays from Bay Area Playwrights in 5 performances, June 14 - June 17.  This will be another exciting evening of creativity and laughter, as seven original works written for this Festival by Bay Area playwrights, are presented on the Center's  intimate stage.  With six talented actors/actresses playing all of the parts, it promises to be a most engaging theatrical event full of surprises and imagination!

It is of great assistance to this Piedmont theatrical effort to have advance ticket sales and great value to its loyal audiences to access exciting, local and live theatre (with a wine/brownie/cheese buffet) for $20 per show!  This year, due to the incredible talent and dedication of The Center's Box Office Guru, Susan Freeman, Season Ticket Holders will receive advance email reminders of their Season Ticket reservations and, of course, the ability to shift performance dates "on a dime".  Don't Delay; seating is, indeed, limited!
