Puffs, or:  Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic

by Matt Cox

 Friday, December 13 – 7 p.m.

Sunday, December 15 – 3 p.m. & 7 p.m.

A contemporary comedy by Matt Cox that follows a group of magic misfits during the times of a certain boy wizard. A play for anyone who has never been destined to save the world!

This new story concerns Wayne Hopkins, an American boy whose Uncle Dave informs him that he is a wizard and must attend a special school in England. Wayne is sorted into The Puffs, which he discovers is the house for the losers, rejects and nerds who never win at anything.  Eventually, Wayne and his fellow Puffs help each other get through a series of recognizable adventures including deadly snakes, a Tournament, and an attack by You Know Who. The actors play multiple roles, including Harry and his pals, as well as a series of recognizable teachers. This play is funny, intelligent, and heartwarming… and for anyone who ever felt like they weren’t the hero of their own story.   It is rated PG for wizard battle violence.

The cast includes Emily Adams, Jonah Bloom, Seth Elkins, Siavash Ford, Will Hosler, Becky Isaac, Ella Meil, Payton Morell, Lucy Richardson, Sebastien Suter-Ternynck, and Mia Webb.

Tickets for both shows are $15 for adults, $10 for students and $25 for reserved seats, and they will be available soon online.  Shows will be at the Piedmont Center for the Arts, 801 Magnolia Avenue, Piedmont.
