"Persian Identities"

art exhibit

opens June 11

An art exhibit by Iranian-American artist Pouneh Trockle will be held at the Piedmont Center for the Arts on June 11-12.  Her art represents a survey of the Iranian identity found in street scenes of Tehran. It is a playful interpretation of familiar faces like that of "Jamileh" the actress/dancer, as well as ambiguous persons like the "Duff Girls" who challenge cultural boundaries with their looks.
The underlying theme of the show is the relentless desire for freedom of expression.
The two day exhibition will available for public viewing at the Center on Saturday and Sunday, June 11-12 from 12-5 p.m.

A reception with wine and cheese will be held on Saturday, June 11 from 2-4 p.m.
