Serbian dance company debuts at Center for the Arts

The Piedmont Center for the Arts invites the community to welcome Mannakin Theater and Dance in its first performance in Piedmont. The celebrated company, led by Dalija Imanich, principal dancer with the Serbian National Ballet, and Nathan Cottam, Artistic Director of Mannakin, will perform “Dances of Serbia”.

Friday, August 12 at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $25 and are available at the door.

Imanich and Cottam will perform works from the stage of the National Theater in Belgrade, together with photos and stories of their experiences touring Serbia.

On the program will be two duets from the ballet adaptation of the Serbian classic movie, Who is Singing Over There?, a movie set in World War II that depicts an ill-fated bus journey to Belgrade from a rural part of the country.

Ms. Imanich and Mr. Cottam met in 2012, when he arrived in Belgrade to accept a contract to perform with the National Ballet.  They shared the stage for the first time in October of that year and have since been seen by audiences all over Serbia on tours produced by Mannakin Theater and Dance. This is Dalija’s first trip to the United States.
