Piedmont Center for the Arts Speaker Series continues with Richard Peterson "Why Florence? Why Me?" Feb. 5

Piedmont Center for the Arts Speaker Series continues with a talk by Richard Peterson entitled “Why Florence? Why Me?” Mr. Peterson  has spent much of his time over the past twenty years studying the city’s art on site, and he will discuss how he came to write the only serious appraisal of the whole course of Florentine painting meant for an audience not versed in the arts. His work, Looking At Painting In Florence, A Learner’s Handbook, is organized chronologically around the churches and cloisters, the principal museums and palaces that house the city’s art

In his presentation, Mr. Peterson will include a slide show of murals that illustrates the pivotal years when Medieval Florence became Renaissance Florence.

Doors open at 5:00 p.m. with wine available for purchase prior to the discussion and photo illustrations at 5:30 p.m. There will be ample time for audience members to ask questions.

Admission is free, although a small donation to the Center for the Arts would be appreciated.                                                   Plenty of free street parking available.
