Sandy Cressman and Homenagem Brasileira featuring Jeff Cressman, Murray Low, David Belove, Phil Thompson

Jazz in the Neighborhood presents Sandy Cressman and Homenagem Brasileira, in a concert showcasing the diversity of Brazil’s musical traditions. Accompanying vocalist/percussionist Sandy Cressman will be Jeff Cressman, trombone; Murray Low, piano; Phil Thompson, percussion; and David Belove, bass. Cressman is well known for her passionate and rhythmic singing of the repertoire of the great composers and performers of Brazilian Jazz, and for her two critically acclaimed CDs, Homenagem Brasileira and Brasil-Sempre no Coração. The concert will feature original arrangements of music from composers such as Dori Caymmi, João Bosco, Gilberto Gil, João Donato and others, as well as  original compositions by Cressman created in collaborations with such notable musicians as Jovino Santos Neto, SpokFrevo, Dani Gurgel, and Ian Faquini.

With the duo Opaluna: Susana Pineda, vocals, and Luis Salcedo, guitar.
