MICHAEL STEHR Lecture

Dec. 13 at 6:30pm

“Gian Lorenzo Bernini – the Michelangelo of the Baroque”

Piedmont Center is proud to present a series of three lectures by the very talented artist Michael Stehr.  The third, and final, lecture will take place on Friday, Dec. 13 at 6:30 pm, focusing on Bernini

No matter where one is while visiting Rome, it is difficult to get beyond the shadow of one of Gian Lorenzo Bernini's great masterpieces.  Maybe it is the Colonnade at St. Peter's Basilica, or the Four Rivers Fountain at the Piazza Navona, or his brilliant sculptures at the Galleria Borghese.

Bernini is regarded as one of the greatest artists of the 1600's, and some consider him one of the greatest men of his century.  But it was Pope Urban VIII Barberini that paid Bernini the highest compliment when he dubbed him "the Michelangelo of our age."  It was Bernini's impressive range that earned him this compliment.

The public is invited to join Michael Stehr for his illustrated lecture that explores what earned Bernini this high praise. Come and see some of the greatest artistic achievements in all of Rome.
