Local Color: A Mother/Daughter Art Show

Lorna Strotz and Kirsten Hosemann

Opening Reception: Friday, July 19 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm

On View Weekends July 20 - July 27

Paintings by Piedmont resident Lorna Strotz and quilts by her daughter Kirsten Hosemann will be on display at the Piedmont Center for the Arts in July, their second mother-daughter exhibit in Piedmont. Strotz is a painter in watercolor and encaustic, while her daughter designs and makes contemporary quilts.

Strotz will be showing a wide variety of paintings; she paints in both realistic and abstract styles, always seeking a strong, rhythmic composition.  Both encaustic and watercolor support beautifully luminous color, a quality Strotz enjoys utilizing.

Hosemann’s quilt designs also incorporate a love of color along with improvisation and ingenuity.  She is a member of the East Bay Modern Quilters’ group, and participates in their shows.

Piedmont residents and friends are cordially invited to attend the Opening Reception on Friday, July 19 from 5:00-8:00 p.m.  The exhibit will be on view throughout the annual Piedmont Chamber Music Festival at the Center, with concerts from July 24-28. Gallery hours on July 20, 21 & 27, from 12 noon to 3:00 p.m.
