Readmont, Piedmont's Community Book Club, discusses "The Martian" by Andy Weir, February 10 at 7p.m.
All readers are invited to join the sixth year of Piedmont’s community book club. Weir has crafted a dramatic yet funny survival story, rich with the science of chemistry, physics and astronomy.
A New York Times best-seller, the book is now a movie starring Matt Damon. It is very popular among high school students and is an excellent vehicle for showcasing STEM concepts (science, technology, engineering and math).
This book contains adult language so may not be appropriate for younger students.A limited number of books will be available to check out in each school library, and more for purchase at a 20% discount at A Great Good Place for Books in Montclair.
We hope this common reading experience will forge positive connections among students, staff, parents and community members.
Discussion led by Susan Stutzman, Piedmont High School Librarian and Beth Black, Chair of Piedmont High School English Department.
February 10, 7p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at the Piedmont Center for the Arts
