An evening of Jazz and Blues,
with a sprinkling of Bluegrass and wild Gypsy music!
Special guest performance by jazz vocalist Lisa Lindsley
Saturday, May 19
7 p.m. Concert
From China to Italy, and all over the USA, Dirty Cello brings the world a high energy and unique spin on blues and bluegrass. Led by vivacious cross-over cellist Rebecca Roudman, Dirty Cello is cello like you’ve never heard before. From down home blues with a wailing cello to virtuosic stompin’ bluegrass, Dirty Cello is a band that gets your heart thumping and your toes tapping!
Dirty Cello is a band consisting of four classically trained musicians turned rogue: Rebecca Roudman on cello, vocals and violin; Jason Eckl on guitar; Colin Williams on bass; and Cory Aboud on drums, will perform an exciting mix of blues and bluegrass honed by years of classical training.
This band is always on the go, with an upcoming tour to Hawaii to perform the Blues Cello Concerto with the Kona Chamber Orchestra in April. They'll be back in May to perform their eclectic mix of music at the Piedmont Center for the Arts. Then they're back to their globetrotting ways, heading off to Europe and performing with the Santa Rosa Symphony Youth Orchestra in beautiful venues like the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria and the Ceremonial Hall in Budapest. Cellist Rebecca Roudman also performs with the Oakland Symphony and the Santa Rosa Symphony.
Oakland-based jazz vocalist Lisa Lindsley has been called a glass of champagne, cool, refreshing, and a little bubbly. Living and creating on two continents, America and Europe, is not always easy, but is always fun. Lindsley invites listeners to surrender to her smoky soprano, while her vocal command and deft timing assure they will be delighted they did.
Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.
