Announcing Auditions for “Other Desert Cities” by Jon Robin Baitz at The Piedmont Players

The Piedmont Players will hold auditions for Other Desert Cities, to be directed by Michael French, on Tuesday,  December 1 from 7:00 – 9:30 pm, and on Saturday, December 5, from 9:30 am to noon, with callbacks on Sunday, December 6 from 9:30 – 12.

Other Desert Cities, a 2012 Finalist for the Pulitzer Prize and Tony-award winner for Best Drama, has been described as a combination of explosive dramatic revelations and acidic comic barbs.  The action follows a family reunited for Christmas in Palm Springs.  Polly and Lyman Wyeth are a very Reagan-esque couple; their grown children are their ideological opposites and Polly’s sister, Silda, a just-out-of-rehab liberal, is visiting for Christmas as well!  They all live in acceptance of these family differences until daughter Brooke reveals her intention to publish a memoir focusing on a family secret they would prefer stays buried.  The holiday is thrown into turmoil and the Wyeths are both bound together and torn apart as they struggle to come to terms with their past.

Other Desert Cities has a cast of 5 with two males (father and son), & 3 females (mother, daughter aunt); ages 20 -80.
All auditions will take place at The Piedmont Center For The Arts

Rehearsals:  Begin January 25 (3 evenings/week, 7-9 pm)
