Lodestar American Band, Saturday, Nov 17 at 7:30 pm
Saturday, Nov. 17, An evening of dancing and music with Piedmont’s Lodestar Band, 7:30 pm. $20 at the door. Toe-tapping, danceable, roots-music concert featuring a talented six-piece band playing classic folk, country, and rock tunes. Fundraiser for the Center.
Lodestar grew out of founding members James Haverkamp’s and Scott Fitzgerrell’s fondness for American roots music. Named for a Sierra family camp where the pair met, the band has since expanded from two guitars and voices to include violin, piano, bass, and drums. Today, Lodestar plays primarily for private parties as well as benefits for community organizations, including the George Mark House, the Russian Hill Society (for whom they played the Venetian Room at the Fairmont Hotel), Piedmont Community Church, and now Piedmont Center for the Arts.
It is the band’s delight to discover (and rediscover) gems of Americana from such writers and singers as Jesse Winchester, the Everly Brothers, James Taylor, Guy Clark, Greg Trooper, Gram Parsons, the Austin Lounge Lizards, Merle Haggard, George Strait, and many more. The band’s performances always include great songs audiences may not know, as well as others easily recognized—all of which make for an exciting and entertaining musical experience. Proceeds from this concert will go to further the work and well-being of PCA. Look for a lively time at this event: great music, great company, great eats and drinks—and the dance floor will be open!
