Artist Reception, Thursday, November 8, 7:00-9:00 pm. All are welcome.

Artist Julie Cohn and her art students present their unique visions in watercolor and water-soluble media. This show features a range of artists who have been studying with Julie. Many of the student artists will use a unique watercolor presentation method developed by Julie in which watercolors are wrapped around a traditional canvas to present their work. Local Piedmont resident Katie Korotzer will be one of the artists represented.

Julie Cohn, a Bay Area native, and graduate of UC Berkeley and College of the Arts is a gifted artist, musician and teacher. Julie’s work has been exhibited in many group and one-woman shows since 1981. Julie teaches at College of Marin and also group and private instruction from her Berkeley studio. Julie also enjoys a lively musical career, singing jazz favorites in venues from San Francisco to surrounding cities.

Julie has a special talent for nurturing her students. In addition to Julie’s art work, this exhibition features the work of Julie’s students. Students in Julie’s private and group classes and in Julie’s classes at College of Marin find a supportive teacher who helps them develop their own artistic voice. In addition to drawing and painting instruction, students may choose to benefit from thought provoking 6 month to 1 year study groups designed to learn the methods of artists through the ages.

For the past three years Julie has also led group painting adventures in France; a particularly rich source of inspiration in many of Julie’s recent paintings.
